Pre-Testing Unit
The Purpose: Although pre-testing is not the ideal, fun way I would like to kick off the year, I do see it as a necessity. We have to first evaluate ourselves to know where we initially are to know how far along we are for the end result.
Exposing A.P. Language students to a released exam shows how rigorous and serious this course must be taken. Literally, EVERY assignment in this class is geared toward preparing students for the National Exam that takes place in May. If a student does well on the National Exam, he or she has the potential of getting college credit, thus saving much time and money in the future. I want my students to know exactly what is at the end of the tunnel, not just a hypothetical light that they know will be coming at them full-steam. They will become comfortable with the format, practice a multiple-choice passages often, and know the differences between the three essays. By pre-testing a released exam, my hope is for the student to take my class, and their education, seriously all year.
I am very serious about getting ALL of my students prepared, I hope they are just as much ready for the challenge.
